Bonneville County report 5/25/2015

On May 24, 2015 at 7:50 p.m. the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office  got a call of an overturned fishing boat on the upper section of the Snake River near Conant Valley Boat ramp.

Just prior to the boat launch the boat struck a partially submerged cottonwood tree. The boat overturned, three of the four people in the boat got to shore.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Dive team, Backcountry Deputies and  Search and Rescue responded last night.

Today we have had assistance from Swan Valley E.M.S. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Bonneville County Search and Rescue and Dive team, also the medical helicopter out of Rexburg, along with a Bonneville County  Reserve Deputy flying a private aircraft.

We have had a total of 5 boats, 2 jet skis and 28 people on the water today. We will continue with this recovery effort.

If  anyone around the river sees what looks like a person in the water, please contact the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office at 529-1299.of Ogden Utah was last seen as the boat overturned.

Fremont County report 5/25/2015

On May 25, 2015 at approximately 10:30am the Fremont Count Sheriff’s Department, Search and Rescue, and EMS along with Madison County’s Sheriff Department and EMS responded to a report of a capsized canoe in the Salem area of the Henry’s Fork. One male subject had gotten trapped in a log jam in the middle of the river where he was then pulled out by family members and first responders.
The male was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The name is currently being withheld at this time until next of kin can be notified. With the current conditions of the river, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public to use caution as well as proper safety equipment when on the water.

Shelley Man Arrested for Meth
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho: Idaho Falls Police arrested 25‐year‐old Tyson R.C. Cook for
possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia Wednesday morning.
Cook of Shelley was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
According to reports, officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the 200 block of
West 19th Street around 7:30 a.m. Cook had been ringing the doorbell of the reporting
party since 5 a.m.
Officers made contact with Cook and learned he had a city warrant. While he was placed
under arrest he was found in possession of Methamphetamine and a glass pipe.

Idaho Falls Man Arrested for Attempted Strangulation
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho: Idaho Falls Police arrested 30-year-old Kelly R. Larson for attempted
strangulation Wednesday morning.
Larson of Idaho Falls was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
According to reports, officers responded to the 100 block of Poplar around 8 a.m. for a report of
a domestic disturbance. Officers learned there had been a verbal argument between Larson and a
19-year-old woman that turned physical when Larson grabbed her by the neck.

Idaho Falls Woman Arrested for Delivery
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho: Idaho Falls Police arrested 27-year-old Chelsie L. Joslin for possession
of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver during a traffic stop Wednesday night.
Joslin of Idaho Falls was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
According to reports, officers stopped a Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Joslin, at South
Yellowstone and Enterprise around 11:30 p.m. During their contact, Joslin was arrested for three
Bingham County warrants.
As officers impounded the vehicle, they found 11.2 grams of Methamphetamine, a glass pipes
and packaging materials.
Joslin was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance, operating a
motor vehicle not registered and fictitious display of license plates.

Power County sheriff’s report

The Power county Sheriff office executed a Search warrant at 355 Maddison Apt. F in American Falls Power County .
Methamphetamine was located during the search and  drug paraphernalia, Arrested were Stephanie Brooke Walters 32 yoa and Justin John Nichols 34 yoa both of American Falls.

Both were charged with multiple counts of  delivery of controlled substance, with in  1000 feet of the William Thomas middle School.

Power County Sheriff office was also assisted by the Bear river drug task force which Power County is a member of.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s report 06/30/2015

On June 29 2015 at 7:55 p.m. the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a possible drowning at Blacktail Reservoir.  Deputies started to arrive in the area at 8:03 p.m. The Bonneville County Dive team was activated and we searched the immediate area around the dock with divers until just after 10:00 p.m.

Two adult men were swimming just South of the construction area by a large dock in the water. They had a tube on the dock. The weather changed to a high wind and lighting. The tube blew off of the dock and they were unable to retrieve it.  The two males attempted to swim to shore. James Southard 23 of Idaho Falls was unable to make it back to shore with the high wind and waves.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Dive team and Bingham County Sheriff’s Office Dive team will continue the search at 9:00 a.m. this morning.

Bonneville County Sheriff’s report 06/30/2015

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and the Southeast Idaho Critical Incident team is updating the media with the following information in reference to the early morning shooting.
  The Bonneville County Sheriff’ S office was dispatched to a domestic disturbance at 1657 East 49th North in Bonneville County.  A pregnant female victim had been hit in the head and face multiple times and hit in the stomach. The male suspect  left the scene and was located by Bonneville County deputy at Woodruff and Yellowstone Highway.
The name of the suspect in the Incident this morning is Ricky L Mosley 31 of Idaho Falls. His condition has been downgraded from stable to critical condition.
No further media inquiries will be responded to tonight. Further information will be given at a press conference, tomorrow  June 30th at  1:00 p.m. at the Bonneville County Training Annex at 577 D Street in Idaho Falls.

Accidental Shooting by Toddler

Rigby, Idaho – On March 26, Rigby Police Chief Keith Hammon was informed by the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center’s (EIRMC) officer on duty, of a patient that had come in with a gunshot wound.

The victim, Travis Sorensen, 25 of Idaho Falls, was lying on a couch in the basement of a home at 330 W 1st S, when he was shot in the left foot.

Witnesses at the home say they were in the process of helping the family move, when a bed was broken down and a gun was found between the mattresses.  The gun was placed on the floor and later picked up by a 3 year old.  The toddler discharged the weapon into the floor, the bullet ricocheted off of a window seal and struck Mr. Sorensen in the left foot.  Mr. Sorensen has been treated at EIRMC for his injury.  No charges have been filed and police consider the incident closed.

In 2010, unintentional firearm injuries caused the deaths of 606 people. From 2005-2010, almost 3,800 people in the U.S. died from unintentional shootings. Over 1,300 victims of unintentional shootings for the period 2005–2010 were under 25 years of age. A federal government study of unintentional shootings found that 8% of such shooting deaths resulted from shots fired by children under the age of six. The U.S. General Accounting Office has estimated that 31% of unintentional deaths caused by firearms might be prevented by the addition of two devices: a child-proof safety lock (8%) and a loading indicator (23%).

The Rigby Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind people to keep all guns safely secured, and locked, especially those homes with small children.

Burglaries at Cabela’s and Sportsman’s Warehouse

RE:  Burglaries at Cabela’s and Sportsman’s Warehouse

     At approximately 11:30 pm last night (Mar. 29th) Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to an alarm at Cabela’s in Ammon, 3693 S. 25th E.  Upon arrival they discovered someone had been inside the building and approximately 16 different firearms, ammunition, and other items were taken.  It appeared that the suspect had possibly been hiding inside the store until after closing before gathering items and leaving.  This crime is similar in nature to a Burglary at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Ammon that occurred in the early morning hours of March 25th where 2 firearms and possibly other items were taken.  The investigation is ongoing and Detectives are still working to determine if the two incidents are connected.

     Pictures of the suspect from Cabela’s surveillance video are attached to this release. We are asking that anyone who may have been in the area of the Cabela’s store yesterday evening or may have knowledge of who this suspect is to contact Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Detectives.  In addition, if anyone was in the area of Sportsman’s Warehouse in the early morning hours of March 25th, between 3am and 4am, and saw anything suspicious we would ask them to please contact the Sheriff’s Office with that information.  Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office Detectives can be reached during business hours at 208-529-1375 or anytime through Dispatch at 208-529-1200.

Lewisville Man Arrested for Felony Injury to a Child

Idaho Falls, ID – Idaho Falls Police arrested 25‐year‐old Zachary D. Bradley for felony injury to a
child and misdemeanor driving under the influence following a crash Wednesday afternoon.
Bradley of Lewisville was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
According to reports, officers responded to a single‐vehicle crash at Snake River Parkway and
Sunnyside Road around 4 p.m. Witnesses reported seeing the a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven
by Bradley, traveling south on Snake River Parkway at approximately 85 miles per hour. Witnesses
then said Bradley accelerated to 100 miles per hour prior to leaving the roadway and striking a
pole.
Bradley had four passengers in the vehicle, including two 15‐year‐old children and one five‐yearold
child.
Bradley was also determined to be driving under the influence.

Sex Offender Arrested for Notification Violation
Idaho Falls, ID – Idaho Falls Police arrested 47‐year‐old Troy D. Fridley on a felony warrant for a
sex offender failing to notify a change of address.
Fridley of Idaho Falls was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
According to reports, officers learned Fridley had moved to a new address in the 1100 block of Lake
Avenue without providing notification. Fridley was arrested at the residence on Lake Avenue.
Fridley is required by law to register as a sex offender following a conviction in 1991 for lewd
conduct with a minor under 16.
